Who am I?

CREATOR CULTURE CHAMPION and NEW WORLD ARCHITECT
Puppeteer, Dandy, Experience Designer and Champion for CREATOR CULTURE & LIFE AS A THEATER OF THE MARVELOUS

Scott’s great grandfather founded Cumberland Presbyterian Ministries, his grandfather designed guidance systems for missiles during WW2 and his father, ( surprisingly) burned his tie, left a prestigious job working for MISSION CONTROL-NASA in Houston and joined forces with a Spiritual Medium to become a wandering, commune-hopping hippie in search of conscious living.

Enter our HERO: a sensitive, brooding only child raised amidst Gurus, Spirit channelers, professional vagabonds, peaceniks, counter culture troubadors, Sufis and nudists.

His parents gypsy lifestyle led him through 20+ schools and  inevitably into the world of role -playing games  in an attempt to find solace from it all.

This upbringing,  paired with a liberal Santa Cruz schooling, his grandparents society parties, a fascination for haunted houses and a constant immersion in role-playing games instilled in him a love for immersive worlds and PLAY.

AT UCSantaCruz he discovered a book entitled THE THEATER OF THE MARVELOUS that suggested that his fascination for ‘LIFE AS ART’ was a pursuit shared by others throughout history and thus sent him diving into San Francisco’s rich subculture community, where he intuitively explored the means to do just that.

Explorations into Avant garde Theater, street performance, puppetry, clowning, Improv, kinetic metal sculpture, mask work, event production, consciousness studies, ritual magic, conscious sexuality, pagan shamanism, costume culture, creative community building and a profound love of mini golf all served in this pursuit.

He has performed his PUNCH AND JUDY puppet play over 1,000 performances and worked as a professional FOOL-JESTER and costume character at Bay Area Corporate events for 20 years, also directing many large scale theatrical ensemble and troupes.

Scott was an early creative player in The Anon Salon theater community of SF and the creative force behind  many innovative projects such as:

The first SEA of DREAMS NYE design and production,

MYSTERIA, a puppet hosted variety cabaret with Jill Tracy,

CARNIMUNDI, an interactive/ theatrical fun house for adults which played to 16 sold out performances blurred the line between audience and performer,

THE WISHING POOL, a contemporary puppet play which played ONCE before being shut down took audiences on a spectacular alchemical journey,

THE ETERNAL RETURN, one of the first large scale multi-media events at the Burning Man Festival brought over 3,000 people together to witness a spectacular, product-oriented failure that ended up birthing a process-based undertaking:

SUPERSTAR AVATAR ; a creative persona social game that predated the current trend towards A.R.G.’s.

S.A. instigated a pre-FRIENDSTER style creative social network that supported a creative currency/ creative identity component and provided the foundation for their current venue www.missioncontrolsf.org. which now hosts numerous themed, costumed, participatory and volunteer based events monthly.

Mission Control is also the alchemical vessel in which Polly Superstar (‘instigator-in-crime’) and Scott distilled their techniques for building and maintaining creative community, code named: THE BEAUTY ENGINE.
Their BEAUTY ENGINE Manual for CREATIVE COMMUNITIES www.beautyengine.org  sent them on a ‘creative identity building’ educators’ workshop tour of Japan and led them to appearing as Keynote Speakers at The 10th Anniversary of GlobalUniversity in Japan (August 2006) and voted ‘People’s Choice’ for presentation at the Planetwork conference in San Francisco June 2004. They were also  featured on the cover of the SFWEEKLY for their innovative exploits in blurring the lines between audience and participant: http://www.sfweekly.com/2004-03-31/news/superstar-avatar/

Recently, they hosted a collaborative ‘Mythic Adventure’ in Palenque, Mexico for 70 people in celebration of Maya culture, spring equinox,  creative community and personal transformation. www.palenque2012.com

Scotts is currently seeking editors to assist with self-publishing a 17 year body of work  of accumulated stories, tools, blueprints and CREATOR CULTURE schematics.

His latest project is called:

THE MYSTIC MIDWAY Spectacular Oracular: A ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ Pop-Up Carnival
